Understanding what it feels like to be lost as
a leader, Greg Anderson’s study of Christ’s
leadership principles has created a passion within
him for helping people find themselves as leaders.
He knows that Jesus is the perfect model for leadership.
Mentoring various executive directors of faith-based
non-profit organizations and young business owners
is something that Greg spends a great deal of
time doing.
Educated at Queen’s University, Greg Anderson’s
interest in health care lead him from Physical
Education to selling medical products. His expertise
enabled him to help build a independent latex
glove distribution company. When, 11 ½
years ago, Discus Dental was looking for someone
to head up their Canadian distribution system,
Greg was ready.
As a business leader, Greg has transitioned from
an entrepreneurial leadership style (focussed
on the bottom line, very task driven) to a more
relational leadership style. He believes that
people development is the most important thing
that he does as a leader, because that is what
Jesus did.
Living in Peterborough with his wife Kay and
their two children Jeremy and Joel, Greg has found
the time to involve himself in fund raising and
committee work for his children’s school.
Greg Anderson also contributed to the launch of
the James Birrel Fund, a fund to raise money for
finding the cure for Neuroblastoma. He was instrumental
in getting Tom Hanks on board with the James
Birrel Fund.
Greg has led workshops and seminars on topics
as wide ranging as branding, leadership, and mission,
vision and values. He believes, in his own words,
that in the future, “business will have
to have more soul. Customers will demand that
businesses stand for something – that they’re
brand stands for something – over and beyond
making money.”
People are expecting more of companies, according
to Greg. This trend, he believes, will continue
to grow – “People will expect companies
to contribute to society. Companies that win will
foster developing people, values and giving back.”
In one sentence, Greg explains why Jesus is a
great leader for everyone to emulate: “Business,
at its core is ministering to people’s needs.
Christ modeled serving – so it’s a
natural fit.”
His hobbies include reading, golf & travel.
